Liège Meatballs

Ingredients for 3-4 individuals:
500 g minced meat
1 egg
breadcrumbs
pepper
salt
nutmeg
allspice
garlic powder
2 onions
3 bayleafs
50-100 g raisins
3 cloves
50 ml vinegar
250 ml water
6-8 tblsp apple butter
butter
1/2 broth cube
3 tsp sugar
flour

Preparation:

– Add the minced meat, egg, breadcrumbs, pepper, salt, nutmeg, allspice and garlic powder in a bowl and mix until equally divided.
– Form about 12 meatballs.
– Heat up oil in a pan and fry the outsides of the meatballs.
– Add the vinegar, water, sugar, bayleaf, cloves, brothcube, raisins, apple butter and fresh onion rings.
– Cover the pan and let it simmer over medium heat for about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
– After 30 minutes, check if the meatballs are done.
– Once done, add some butter and flour to thicken the sauce until your liking.
– Serve with mashed potatoes or fries.
